The first inactivated COVID-19 vaccine phase III clinical trial progresses smoothly and wins praise

As of November 11, there were more than 51 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 worldwide. Many places around the world are going through the second wave of the epidemic, and people from all over the world are increasingly looking forward to the COVID-19 vaccine.

Currently, the phase III clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinopharm CNBG is ongoing in the UAE, Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Peru and Argentina. More than 50,000 people of 125 nationalities have received the jabs.

As the trials are approaching the endpoint, the figures all show good results. Sinopharm CNBG strictly followed the regulated procedures to ensure the vaccine of top safety are provided to the people.

The UAE PM: We wish everyone safety and great health.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, sends out a tweet about receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. “While receiving the COVID-19 vaccine today,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted. “We wish everyone safety and great health, and we are proud of our teams who have worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available in the UAE. The future will always be better in the UAE.”

Before the Prime Minister, there had been over 10 UAE high-level officials received the vaccination. On July 15th, Chairman of the Department of Health Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Hamed, volunteered as the first one to receive the vaccine.

On Sept. 19th, Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention, received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

On Oct. 16th, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received the vaccination.

October 31st, Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, received the vaccination.

Bahrain Crowne Prince: Contribute to the fight against COVID-19

Apart from the UAE, heads and political dignitaries of Bahrain and Egypt also volunteered in Sinopharm CNBG’s clinical trial.

Bahrain’s Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad on Sept. 16th took part in the third phase of COVID-19 vaccine trials underway in the kingdom.

“Today I was privileged to stand together with our vaccine volunteers, each one of them determined to play their part in working to protect others, not just at home in our kingdom, but right across the globe” and “this global crisis requires a global response,” the Crown Prince, said.Apart from the Crowne Prince, many other high-level officials of Bahrain also volunteered in the clinical trial and received the vaccination.

Egyptian Health Minister: For the common cause of mankind 

On Sept. 28th, Egyptian Health Minister Hala Zayed received the vaccination at the clinical trial site. She said that the public should actively take part in this trial so as to contribute to the early success in developing the vaccine.

The minister expressed her praise for Sinopharm CNBG’s work to fight the virus and conveyed the President’s attention for the ongoing trial in Egypt. She hoped to contribute to this common cause of mankind through joint efforts.

UAE and Bahrain approved the vaccine for emergency use

According to the report by the Gulf News on Sept. 15th, the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention Al Owais announced the emergency use for the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Sinopharm CNBG as it proved safe and effective in the phase III clinical trial ongoing in the UAE.

Bahrain also approved the emergency use on Nov.3rd and vaccinated part of the frontline healthcare workers the same day. This is the 2nd country in the Middle East to approve vaccine for emergency use, right after the UAE.

It was reported that the emergency use included healthcare workers, teachers, police and custom officials etc.
